『ことわざ・慣用表現を通して学ぶ』　

最近私はいかにイディオムが外国の言葉の文化を学ぶのに素晴らしい方法かと
いうことに気付きました。（もちろん英語です）はじめに、慣用表現は単純に
その国の言葉を第一言語とする人たちが自然に話す方法であります。
ほとんどのイディオムは文化には欠かすことの出来ない※Urban MythsやFish Wife’s taleが基本となっています。
それらはいつも道徳性（もしくは物語から学ぶべき事）のようなものでもちろんそれぞれの文化によっても異なるものであります。　
※実際にはありもない噂やゴシップのこと。

Dから始める例を見てみましょう。

Dark Horse 予想外の実力者・未知の実力を持つ競争相手
あまり知られていなかったが優れた能力をもったもの

Dead Ringer “そっくりさん・生き写し”
100％一致する、全く同じ。　重複。

Devil’s Advocate　
討論の特定の側の異見には信じずに反対の立場を取る人、　反論を唱える人。

Dog Days of Summer 　“盛夏”
夏のもっとも暑い日々

Don’t count your chickens before they hatch “取らぬ狸の皮算用”
あなたが確かだと思うまで、それを信用するな。

Don’t look a gift horse in the mouth “もらいものにケチを付ける”
誰かからものを貰ったら、有難くないとは思うな。

Don’t put all your Eggs in one basket 　“全財産を投資するな”
ひとつのことをすべての希望に掛けること。

何故このような表現を私たちネイティブが使うか想像出来ますか？それでは！

Learning through Proverb's;

Recently I have noticed how Idiom's are an excellent way to learn about
any languages culture (for us of course English).
Firstly an Idiom is simply a natural manner of speaking for native speakers of a language.
Alot of idiom's come from or are based on 'Urban Myths' or 'Fish Wife's Tales' which are always a vital part of any culture.
They always sound like the MORAL of a story (or the thing we should learn from the story), and of course moral's vary from culture to culture.

Let's take some examples from the letter D:

Dark Horse:
One who was previously unknown and is now prominent.

Dead Ringer:
100% identical. A duplicate.

Devil's Advocate:
Someone who takes a position for the sake of argument without believing
in that particular side of the arguement.
It can also mean one who presents a counter argument for a position they do believe in, to another debater.

Dog Days of Summer:
The hottest days of the summer season.

Don't count your chickens before they hatch:
Don't rely on it until your sure of it.

Don't Look A Gift Horse In The Mouth:
When someone gives you a gift, don't be ungrateful.

Don't Put All Your Eggs In One Basket:
Do not put all your resources in one possibility.

Can you imagine or think of any reasons as to why we may use such expressions?
